We made Vijay a star, says Abirami Rmanathan

Speaking at the audio launch of ‘Aaram Thinai’, Abirami Ramanathan- the President of Tamil Nadu Theatre owners and Distributors Association had a special request to producers. 

Abirami Ramanathan voiced out to film producers to not release the movie in a short span of time in online platforms like Amazon as it will blow a death knell to theatres. ” Producers sell the rights to online platforms that release the movie within 10 to 15 days of the film’s theatrical release. Because of this, theatre businesses take a major hit,” he said.

Further, he also stated that theatres have played a major role in the creation of present stars like Thalapathy Vijay. Adding that even when Vijay used to act in small budget films in his early career it was theatres which ran plenty shows raising Vijay and other actors to star status.

Asking film producers to not sell rights to online platforms atleast for a year, Abirami also expressed that the success of small budget films is very much essential. He also added that appreciation from audiences is what gives him happiness and satisfaction.
