The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2021 is currently scheduled to begin on August 1. However, with the prevailing Covid-19 situation in the country, the medicine entrance exam is unlikely to happen in just 41 days, according to experts.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) is yet to release the information bulletin and start the registration process and there is no official update from their side as to whether there will be a postponement of the medical entrance test. One of the experts was quoted as saying by a news agency, “The registration process has not yet started. Even if NTA was to start registration process from tomorrow, it would still consider giving 25 days to students. Also, once the process ends, it would not be able to process the applications by end of July to conduct the exam on August 1.”
Another expert reportedly said, “The exam may get postponed till end of August but not later than September 15. There is no clarity yet but I am of the opinion that NTA may want to get the exam conducted in September itself. This would ensure that the admission process can be completed by November or December, which is crucial.”
