Why Chithra’s husband Hemnath was arrested – Previous suicide attempt details emerge

The late actress Chithra’s husband Hemnath was arrested at midnight on Tuesday after five straight days of inquiry by the police who grilled him due to his inconsistent statements.  More shocking details have emerged regarding the tragic death of Chithra who hung herself to death in a hotel room near Chennai on December 9th.

The police after a long line of questioning Chithra’s parents, Hemnath’s parents and actresses and friends associated with her have more or less concluded that it was her husband who pushed her to the limits with his irrational and inconsiderate behaviour.

It has come to light that Hemnath was not happy with Chithra acting in intimate scenes in the serials and many a time including the day of her death in a drunken state had gone to the sets and fought with her.  At the same time Chithra’s mother hearing about Hemnath’s character was also forcing her to separate from him and call off the wedding planned in February 2021 unaware that the couple already registered their marriage in October.

Hemnath had revealed in the police investigation that Chithra had started to build a new house in Thiruvanmiyur and had also bought a luxury Audi car earlier this year.  She was apparently shocked when the coronavirus pandemic forced a lockdown for several months and the pressure of repaying loans had affected her.

The Chithra and Hemnath engagement was conducted with close family members on both side in August and the actress dreamed of a grand wedding inviting the film and television industry celebrities.  She expected Hemnath to share the huge expenses which he was not for and had fought with her on that regard too.

It is said that the final blow to Chithra was Hemnath forcing her to quit acting since he did not like her in scenes with male costars playing her pair.  Chithra then  a few months back attempted suicide by consuming sleeping tablets but was treated in time and escaped death.

Unfortunately, the pressures from the man she loved the family she valued, the pandemic situation, mounting debts, and above all the threat to her acting passion is said to have taken a toll on her heart and finally snatched her life away.
