Thala Ajith's 'Viswasam' directed by Siruthai Siva and produced by Sathyajyothi Films locked the Pongal 2019 release date many months ago and it was believed that the much-anticipated film will have a solo release. However Sun Pictures made the sudden announcement that their Superstar Rajinikanth starrer 'Petta' directed by Karthik Subbaraj is also arriving during the Pongal holidays. Rumours started floating that 'Viswasam' could be postponed to a later date.

Producer S. Thiagarajan of Sathyajyothi Films has made it clear in a recent press interaction that 'Viswasam' will definitely hit the screens on Pongal and there are no chance of any postponement as rumoured. He also asserted that distributors and theater owners are keen to screen the Thala Ajith movie as he is known as the king of opening.

'Viswasam' has Ajith and Nayanthara as the lead pair while Robo Shankar, Yogi Babu, Thambi Ramaiah, Vivek, Ramesh Thilak and others co-star. D. Imman scores the music, Vettri handles the camera and Ruben the editing.
