The violent and intense trailer of Vikram Prabhu's upcoming film, 'Taanakkaran', just landed on the internet. After playing a befitting cop in 'Sigaram Thodu' and 'Thuppakki Munai', the actor has now returned as a mettlesome police trainee in this movie that deals with the brutality being practised in the Indian police training camps.
The 2-minute-long trailer showcases Vikram Prabhu as an aggressive trainee who stands up against the ruthless treatment of his merciless superiors and senior officers with a pulsating BGM by Ghibran. The movie talks about the hardships faced by a slew of young trainees at a police training camp. The storyline is reminiscent of Stanley Kubrick's 'Full Metal jacket', which deals with the brutality inside the western military forces.
'Taanakkaran' sure looks like a promising winner from Disney Plus Hotstar. The makers have opted for a direct premiere on the OTT platform over theatrical release. The producer talks about going for a digital release, "Films like Taanakkaran shouldn't go unnoticed. We wanted to take it to a wider audience. We chose the Direct OTT route as we wanted a better reach and did not want the movie to get overshadowed by the big films in theatres."
Tamizh, who played the brutal cop SI Gurumoorthy in Suriya's Jai Bhim, is set to make his directorial debut with 'Taanakkaran'. He is an ex-police officer and has a service of 12 years and also worked as an assistant director to Vetrimaaran in 'Asuran' and 'Viduthalai'. The film also stars Anjali Nair, Lal, M.S.Bhaskar, Madhusudhan Rao and Anbarasan in prominent roles.
This project is bankrolled by Potential Studios LLP, who brought us valuable movies like 'Maya', 'Maanagaram' and 'Monster'. The music for the venture is scored by Ghibran with cinematography by Madhesh Manickam and editing is taken care of by Philomin Raj. 'Taanakkaran' is all set to release directly on Disney Plus Hotstar on April 8.
