Chiyaan Vikram to start shooting for the original 'KGF' movie soon?

Ever since Prashanth Neel's 'KGF : Chapter 1' released in 2018 and wowed pan Indian audiences with its innovative storytelling it has become a brand. The sequel released on April 14th has created box office history collecting in excess of rupees thousand crores worldwide to become the second biggest Indian film ever after 'Baahubali 2'.
However though both the 'KGF' movies are set in the Kolar Gold Fields in Karnataka, the stories are fictional and bear little resemblance to the history of the place. Now once again the project tentatively titled 'Maidaanam' is in the limelight. Sources say that the sports based film will also take a deep look at how Tamils contributed to the growth of 'KGF' with sweat, blood and life right from the British period to modern times. The screenplay will be as close to true life in the goldmines as possible is what those in the know opine.
'Maidaanam' aka 'Chiyaan 61' is produced by Studio Green Gnanavelraja with G.V. Prakash Kumar scoring the music. The rest of the cast and crew details will be revealed soon as the team is planning to begin principal photography from July this year.
Vikram has currently completed shooting for Mani Ratnam's 'Ponniyin Selvan' and Ajay Gnanamuthu's 'Cobra while Ranjith is busy with the postproduction of his romance film 'Natchathiram Nagargirathu' starring Kalidas Jayaram and Dushara Vijayan in the lead roles.
