Thalapathy Vijay going on a bicycle on Tuesday to cast his vote in Chennai has become a talking point. It was thought that he was making a political statement against the fuel price hike. It seems the media interpretation is something the ‘Master’ actor himself is not in agreement with.
The ‘Sarkar’ actor has since issued a statement through his publicist. “Since the voting booth was nearby and the road was narrow and lacked parking space, Thalapathy Vijay used a bicycle. There was no other reason,” the statement reads.
So, the media went overboard in reading too much into the development. Or, maybe, Vijay did intend to make a statement but doesn’t want a political ruckus or debate to be had about it. Therefore, he chose to issue a statement denying the interpretation.
Either way, it has been a day of interesting developments.
