The screening of films for India’s official entry to the Oscar awards which will be held next year, is happening in Kolkata. It has been revealed that three Tamil movies are in the total list of 28 movies that are being screened for the jury which will decide the official entry.
The three Tamil movies are Vetrimaran’s Vada Chennai starring Dhanush, Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s Super Deluxe and Parthiban’s Oththa Seruppu size 7. The screening process started on September 18 and will continue till September 22, after which the announcement will be made.
Aparna Sen is the chairperson of the committee, and the jury also includes Padmanabha Das Gupta, Sujay Dutta Ray, Debojyoti Mishra, Ashok Vishwanath and Pratim Gupta. Some popular Bollywood movies like Uri, Kesari, Gully Boy, Badhaai Ho and Andhadhun are also in the list. It is to be seen if any of the three Tamil films will become India’s Oscar entry.
