Whoa! Did ‘Thalapathy 67’ set a new record in pre-business collection in Tamil cinema?

As we reported earlier, Thalapathy Vijay will move to his upcoming project with director Lokesh Kanagaraj after wrapping up his current film ‘Varisu’, to release on Pongal 2023. The hot topic in K-town is that ‘Thalapathy 67’ has started its business even before the official announcement.

Dhananjayan, a well-known producer in the Tamil film industry, confirmed on a Twitter space last night that the OTT and satellite rights of the yet-to-be-announced film are sold for a whopping price. According to trusted sources, the post-theatrical streaming rights of ‘Thalapathy 67’ is bagged by Netflix for around Rs 160 crores and the satellite rights is acquired by Sun TV for around Rs 80 crores.

Reportedly, the highly anticipated movie has minted over Rs 240 crores even before a formal launch. Producer Dhananjayan also stated that Thalapathy 67 will be the first proper Pan-Indian film in Vijay’s filmography as the project will feature a Hindi star, a Malayalam star and a Telugu star alongside the ‘Ghilli’ actor. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj had planned this film on a mega scale, produced by Seven Screen Studio.
