The emergence of a deepfake video featuring the ravishing beauty, Rashmika Mandanna, has triggered a widespread outcry, uniting not only celebrities from across the country but also all individuals with a sense of moral integrity. They are collectively demanding stringent action and the implementation of robust laws to prevent the recurrence of such heinous acts in the future.
Amidst this turmoil, Rowdy Star Vijay Devarakonda, who shared the screen with Rashmika in films like Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade, responded with deep concern and anger regarding the entire issue. Vijay Devarakonda shared his thoughts, stating, "Taking essential steps for the future is of utmost importance. Such incidents should never happen to anyone. Additionally, an efficient and accessible cyber wing, capable of swift crackdowns and administering penalties, will bolster people's security."
Rashmika Mandanna was profoundly shocked when a fake video of her, seemingly walking in a towel from the bathroom, went viral. The image of Zara Patil was maliciously morphed onto Rashmika Mandanna's likeness. This incident prompted a strong response from the legendary Amitabh Bachchan, and Rashmika herself conveyed her apprehensions.
Zara Patil, who was featured in the video, vehemently denied any involvement in the entire episode. These developments led to a surge in indignation, prompting the Telugu Film Journalists Association to intervene and meet with Telangana DGP Anjani Kumar, demanding swift and resolute action against the culprits. Earlier, MLC Kavitha also expressed grave concern over the unfolding situation.
Prominent figures such as Naga Chaitanya, Sai Dharam Tej, Mrunal Thakur, Chinmayi Sripada, and others responded with deep seriousness to the entire issue. The threat posed by AI deepfakes extends beyond personal harm, often resulting in significant financial losses and the tarnishing of one's reputation. The proliferation of AI deepfakes has raised considerable concerns, given their potential for malicious use, including the spread of misinformation, the creation of fake news, and the impersonation of individuals for illicit purposes. As a result, there is a growing interest in developing tools and regulations aimed at detecting and mitigating the possible harms associated with this technology.
Union Minister Rajiv Chandrasekhar has pledged to pass stringent laws to combat the menace of deepfake videos, highlighting the urgency of addressing this issue.
