‘King of Entertainment’ Sree Vishnu is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Comrade Kalyan, which blends period flavour, romance, comedy, emotion and a revolutionary backdrop. Directed by Janakiram Marella and presented by Kona Venkat, the film is produced by Venkata Krishna Karnati and Seetha Karnati under Skanda Vahana Motion Pictures LLP.
The movie is scheduled to hit theatres on October 9, and after generating curiosity with its glimpse, teaser and songs, the makers have now unveiled the theatrical trailer. The trailer promises an entertaining ride with an unexpected serious conflict at its core.
From a Simple Life to a Dangerous Mission
Set against the backdrop of the Andhra-Odisha border in 1992, the story follows Kalyan, who runs a local theatre and leads a cheerful, uncomplicated life. His mother is an ardent Nandamuri Balakrishna fan, adding another layer of fun to the family setup.
Kalyan’s life takes a turn when he falls in love with an Odia girl. However, the language barrier creates plenty of humorous situations between the couple.
The real twist comes when the police begin hunting for Kalyan and his true identity is revealed. He is a wanted Naxalite, and in a daring move, Kalyan and his group kidnap a powerful politician to demand the release of their comrades from prison.
This unexpected shift from a light-hearted setup to a serious revolutionary conflict gives the film an intriguing dimension.

Sree Vishnu Takes Centre Stage
The trailer makes it clear that Sree Vishnu is the heart and soul of Comrade Kalyan. His natural comic timing, distinctive dialogue delivery and effortless performance bring plenty of humour to the character.
His unique style of swallowing words while speaking adds to the comedy, while his performance in the more intense Naxalite portions shows another side of the character. Even during serious moments, Sree Vishnu manages to retain the quirky flavour that appears to be central to the film.
Mahima Nambiar brings freshness to the role of the Odia girl, and her chemistry with Sree Vishnu makes the romantic track appealing. Radhika Sarathkumar plays his mother and an ardent Balakrishna fan, promising several entertaining moments.
Satya, Sudarshan and the rest of the supporting cast add to the humour, while Shine Tom Chacko brings intensity as a police officer from Kerala. Upendra Limaye is also seen in a significant role.
Strong Period Setting and Technical Work
The 1992 setting along the Andhra-Odisha border gives Comrade Kalyan a distinct visual identity. Cinematographer Sai Sriram captures the rural landscapes and lush surroundings beautifully, adding authenticity to the period setting.
Vijay Bulganin’s background score complements the film’s comedy while creating the required tension during the action and Naxalite sequences. Chota K Prasad’s editing keeps the trailer crisp and engaging, while the production design adds credibility to the period world.
Director Janakiram Marella appears to have struck a balance between comedy, romance and the more serious conflict involving the Naxalites and police. The trailer begins on a light-hearted note, gradually moves into intense territory and ends with a hilarious moment, maintaining the film’s quirky tone.
Overall, the Comrade Kalyan trailer successfully showcases the film’s unique blend of humour, romance and revolutionary drama. With Sree Vishnu’s performance at the centre, an interesting period backdrop and a promising supporting cast, the film has raised expectations ahead of its October 9 theatrical release.
