Vijay Antony, one of the leading stars of Tamil cinema met with a freak boating accident in Malaysia a week back. He was shooting for an action scene for 'Pichaikkaran 2' which he is also directing. The boat he was travelling apparently collided with another and capsized and he was severely injured and was rushed to a nearby hospital in Langkawi.

Actress Kavya Thappar who plays the female lead also sustained minor injuries and returned to Mumbai immediately. Fathima Vijay Antony rushed to Malaysia and was beside her husband who regained conciousness in the hospital.

Vijay Antony tweeted an update from the hospital "Dear friends, I am safely recovered from a severe jaw and nose injury during Pichaikkaran 2 shoot in Malaysia.
I just completed a major surgery. I will talk to you all as soon as possible😊✋
Thank you for all your support and concern for my health.". The post has brought huge relief to fans all over the globe.
