The other day, veteran Kollywood actress Vichithra, a former participant on Big Boss, courageously revealed a distressing incident from her past, recounting a harrowing casting couch experience involving a prominent Tollywood star. The revelation left everyone stunned, with only Chinmayi Sripada offering support amidst a conspicuous silence from others.
In the aftermath, netizens began speculating, linking the dots and suggesting that the Tollywood star involved in the casting couch episode was none other than the revered Natasimha Balakrishna. Amidst this speculation, Vichithra's husband, Shaji, shared her traumatic ordeal, shedding light on the dark events.
Shaji clarified that during that time, he and Vichithra were not even friends; their relationship was merely that of a guest and a hotel manager. He disclosed that the production company failed to settle Vichithra's room rent, intending for her to be ousted from the hotel. They also neglected to arrange flight tickets for her return to Chennai. Shaji assumed the responsibility of safely transporting the actress to the airport. It was during this challenging incident that the couple fell in love, eventually leading to their marriage.
Shaji elaborated on the prolonged nature of Vichithra's case, with a police inquiry lasting for some time, managed by his father-in-law. Expressing dissatisfaction, Shaji claimed that Nadigar Sangam did not offer assistance. Under pressure from the influential actor involved, they reluctantly dismissed the case.
The traumatic experience compelled Shaji to insist that Vichithra quit acting, citing a lack of safety for women in the industry. He expressed his displeasure with Vichithra sharing the incident, as it was uncharacteristic of her. Their eldest son was deeply affected upon learning of the incident, questioning why his mother had kept such a shocking event hidden.
Despite the fresh trauma faced by Vichithra's family, it's commendable that she came forward with an issue that had troubled her for over two decades. As anchor Joe aptly put it, Vichithra's courage has inspired other victims to break their silence and speak out against such injustices.
