Pothuluru Veerabrahmendra Swamy, who lived in Kadapa district in the 17th Century, wrote ‘Kalagnanam’, a book predicting future incidents. As per some claims made by social media users, the sage is believed to have accurately predicted the outbreak of Coronavirus, which he called Koranki in his book.
Here is what Veerabrahmendra Swamy allegedly said:
ఈశాన్య దిక్కున విషగాలి పుట్టేను
లక్షలాది ప్రజలు సచ్చేరయ
కోరంకియను జబ్బు కోటిమందికి తగిలి
కోడిలాగా తూగి సచ్చేరయ
Whether he meant one crore literally or just to indicate an epidemic is not clear. Also, it can’t be certainly concluded that he was referring to Coronavirus in the verse.
So far, about 2,744 people, a majority of them in China, have been infected with the virus. About 490 of them are said to be serious.
The claim that the renowned sage made this prediction couldn’t be verified by us.
