We all know that Udhayanidhi Stalin was sworn in as a Minister of Tamil Nadu a few months ago. Hence, his latest film 'Maamannan' was touted to be the last film in his acting career. The socio-political drama movie, made by Mari Selvaraj, was released yesterday and is gaining superb reports all over.
Maamannan focuses on the political conflicts faced by a father-son duo from an oppressed community in a reserved constituency. It has Vadivelu, Fahadh Faasil and Keerthy Suresh alongside Udhay with Isai Puyal AR Rahman's music. Now, the hot news is that Maamannan has emerged as the career-best opening day collection in Udhayanidhi's acting stint.
Also, Maamannan marks the second-highest first-day collection in Mari Selvaraj's filmography, second to Dhanush's 'Karnan'. While Karnan collected more than Rs 10 crore on the opening day, Maamannan minted more than Rs 9 crore. Also, Maamannan's blockbuster opening in Tamil Nadu made it the fourth-highest opening for a Tamil film in 2023.
This is viewed as a befitting farewell to Udhayanidhi Stalin's acting career. Reportedly, he confirmed that he won't be acting in films henceforth after the release of Maamannan. The movie has cinematography by Theni Eswar, editing by Selva RK and art direction by Kumar Gangappan with stunts by Dhilip Subbarayan.
