Tuesday Trivia! The Almost two movies Vijay and Ajith worked together

Vijay and Ajith who started their careers much about the same time and also grew in stature together have acted in only one movie together and another one was so close to being made but one of them opted out.  The film that had them together was ‘Rajavin Paarvaiyile’ directed by Janaki Sounder with music by Ilayaraja.

In ‘Rajavin Paarvaiyile’ Vijay played a youth who is against love as his best friend played by Ajith lost his life because of it.  The film had sentimental scenes between Ajith and Vijay and are now enjoyed by both their fans although it was a huge disappointment at the box office.

The Mani Ratnam produced ‘Nerukku Ner’ directed by Vasanth initially had Vijay and Ajith as the heroes but unfortunately after eighteen days of shooting Ajith opted out due to various reasons and Suriya made his debut replacing him.  After the release of ‘Mankaatha’ Vijay had expressed to Venkat Prabhu that if he had been approached for Arjun’s role he would have done it.

Even now the neutral fans of Thala and Thalapathy want them both in the same film.  There are many constraints in bringing them together including a story that would do justice to both of them.  Their hardcore fans would definitely fight in theaters and this one reason is what keeps most filmmakers from attempting such a project.  But if all goes well and a film with Ajith and Vijay is made it would surely make history at the box office as well as will be the most talked about in Kollywood history.
