For once, we have a story-based period film whose heroism is not larger-than-life but comes with a dash of realism. The action sequences may still be unrealistic, though.
Ram Charan as the speech-impaired Chitti Babu can be trusted to deliver a charming act. And knowing well Sukumar’s style, expect a lot of situational comedy.
Sibling sentiment is a mainstay, it seems. Aadhi Pinisetty as Chitti Babu’s bespectacled brother has a performance-oriented role for sure. And as Chiranjeevi said at the pre-release event, his character dies.
Samantha Akkineni as Rama Lakshmi is in for some harsh treatment from her crush. And since she is sobbing hard, expect some heart-rending moments as well.
Jagapathi Babu seems to be a feudal lord, with Ajay Ghosh being his heavy henchman. In the allegorical stage (‘rangasthalam’), he is the unchallenged, undisputed villain. Prakash Raj as an idealistic character has a significant place in the story, although not much run-time. The trailer doesn’t quite reveal anything about ‘Atthamma’ Anasuya Bharadwaj’s role.
Rathnavelu’s frames, Ramakrishna’s set, and Devi Sri Prasad’s background music should make it a treat. Come March 30, we will know how far the film will reach the expectations.
