"It is with heavy hearts we share the news that Bill Paxton has passed away due to complications from-a major heart surgery," read a statement released by Paxton's family representative .

Born in Fort Worth , Texas in May 17 ,1955, Paxton was began his Hollywood career working in art department. Eventually he became an actor and a filmmaker.

In a career spanning four decades he has acted in over 90 films, Bill Paxton was one of the actors James Cameron repeatedly cast in his films like 'Terminator' and 'True Lies' apart from the world renowned 'Titanic'. Paxton has also played the lead role in films like 'Twister'and Á Simple Life' among others. Paxton has also directed films like The Greatest Game Ever Played and 'Frailty'.

Paxton is survived by Louise Newbury and two children including a son James Paxton who is also an actor.
