The sight of a man falling off a moving train while performing for a TikTok video, where he gets away with his life by barely a few inches, has left people in shock.
The seven-second video shows the man losing his balance and falling off the train while apparently performing a ‘stunt’ for a video meant to be uploaded on TikTok. Piyush Goyal, the minister of Railways and Commerce, shared the footage on his Twitter page along with the caption, “Chalti train main stunt dikhana bahaduri nahi, murkhta ki nishani hai. Aapka jeewan amulya hai, isse khatre main naa dale. Niyamo ka palan kare, aur surakshit yatra ka anand le. (Translated – Performing stunts in a moving train is not bravery, it is a sign of foolishness. Your life is priceless, do not put it in danger. Follow the rules and enjoy the journey.)”
Although social media and video-sharing websites such as YouTube and TikTok have had a positive impact on people in terms of entertainment, the adverse effects of the same are impossible to ignore. The “express yourself” video app that allows its users to share short clips of their talents/performances gained traction in India recently, with at least 20 million people from the country currently using the application.
