Tik Tok, Helo, WeChat & 56 others Chinese apps banned

The Modi government has on Monday night banned 59 Chinese apps, including Tik Tok, Helo and WeChat.  These apps will not operate on mobile and non-mobile devices.  PUBG hasn’t been banned.  

The Ministry of Information Technology invoked its powers under the Information Technology Act in view of the “emergent nature of threats” posed by the apps.

“These apps are engaged in activities that are prejudicial to the sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, the security of state and public order,” the government said.
