Neighbour murders woman and her 10-year-old son in TN

A man from the town of Thiruthani killed a woman and her son who lived next door after his attempt at robbery failed.

Varalakshmi was a homemaker who lived with her husband Vanaperumal and 10-year-old son in a locality in TN’s Thiruthani. On April 8, Vanaperumal reached home to find the dead bodies of his wife and son in the living area. Shocked and clueless, he filed a complaint at the local police station. The police, who checked the CCTV camera across their house found that their neighbour, a milk vendor, was the last person to have visited their place before the murder.

Upon inquiry, the man confessed that he was responsible for the crime. He apparently entered through the back door of the house and tried to steal their money and jewellery. When Varalakshmi caught him red-handed and started screaming for help, he hit her on the head with an iron rod. He also mercilessly strangled the little boy, who was trying to call his father, with the wire from an iron box.

The accused has been arrested and remanded in judicial custody. He is yet to be presented in the court for a sentence.
