The Raja Saab, the long-delayed Prabhas starrer directed by Maruthi, has hit yet another hurdle. Despite being launched over three and a half years ago, the horror-comedy remains incomplete, and now a legal dispute threatens to push its release even further.
Delhi-based Ivy Entertainment has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court against the film’s production house, People Media Factory Pvt. Ltd., alleging serious breaches of contractual obligations and seeking a permanent injunction on the project.
According to media reports, Ivy Entertainment invested a massive ?218 crore for the film’s theatrical rights. The petition claims that producer TG Vishwa Prasad not only violated contractual agreements but has also refused to return the investment. The company is demanding a full refund of the amount along with 18% annual interest.
The legal battle is expected to further delay The Raja Saab, which had been targeting a January 2026 release.
A blend of horror and comedy, the film features Prabhas as the titular Raja Saab, Sanjay Dutt as his grandfather, and Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, and Riddhi Kumar in the female lead roles.
If the court proceedings drag on, industry insiders fear the film’s future could be uncertain, despite earlier hints from the producer about turning The Raja Saab into a franchise.
