The Defining Moments of the Jallikattu Protests in Tamil Nadu
One can say that we are witnessing the biggest socio-political renaissance in the modern history of Tamil Nadu. To rescue our cultural bearings from foreign forces and the enemies within, the young blood of the oldest civilization of the world is fighting not with weapons but the power of peace. Here we take a look at the defining moments of the Jallikattu protest.
Unity
The Chennai Floods of 2015 already proved to a great extent how the Tamils come running for one another breaking barriers of cast, creed and religion. The Jallikattu has sealed the notion that the unity of the people, especially the youth is as strong as iron and only selfish politicians and other leaders who divide them
A Master Class in non-violence
Mahatma Gandhi will be smiling big from his heavenly abode to see his children, many generations from him following his doctrine and not resorting to any violence and achieving their goals making the world turn towards Tamils and Tamil Nadu
A wake up call to politicians and superstars
The youth who are fighting to save the culture have been adamant in not letting any politician into their fold and also have boycotted the Nadigar Sangam protest in spite of the bigwigs present, clearly proving that these boys and girls cannot be manipulated for personal gains.
A lesson to the rest of the country how we treat our women
At times when Delhi and Bengaluru are witnessing hideous sexual assaults on women, Marina plunged into darkness by the Government witnessed something that every Tamilian can take pride in. The thousands of women present, felt as protected as if they were in their own homes. Elsewhere in the Madurai belt it was the women who took center stage and are taking the fight to the last.
Police - The True Friends of the People
The relationship between the cops and the protesters should be seen to be believed as each one cooperated with the other to ensure a smooth sailing in all the four days so far. Cops dressing up an injured youth or the protestors passing food and water to the protectors is just a few of the scenes to witness.
Clean in the heart and the environment
The youngsters are showing what Tamil culture is all about. Not only are the hearts of the girls and boys pure in their fight, but they also make sure the environment is cleaned by taking care of the litter and garbage.
Women Power to the fore from young to old
History has shown that all revolutions that changed the world were either started by women or their participation is immense. It is our women from a toddler to the senior most citizen who is fighting for our rights and taking us closer to the biggest victory in modern India.
Prime Media Support
The prime media which has been the mouthpiece of the powerful and the tool that the glamour world uses to build up their reel hero image has at last turned their focus on the real heroes so much so that a galaxy of stars and superstars gathering had no consequence whatsoever.
Few real stars from the Reel
Hip Hop Tamizha, started his Jallikattu campaign a year back releasing the Takkaru album and has been the beacon for the cause from the entertainment industry. It was Simbu who first pressed for a non-violent protest which immediately gathered momentum. G. V. Prakash Kumar is another vociferous representative of the modern youth, who has boldly questioned the powers that be and he is seen as a youth icon by the young protesters. Raghava Lawrence has braved ill health and has been in Marina 24/7 and has also spent 1 Crore rupees for the cause. Socially inclined stars like D. Imman, Vivekh and R. J. Balaji among others dedicated their time, physique and money to help feed the thousands along with other volunteers. Trident Arts Ravindran and Vijay Vasanth provided mobile toilets. The Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan keeps encouraging the youth and strongly objects to actors sharing the limelight with the warriors.
