Chennai and its surrounding districts were hugely affected by the extreme rainfall and severe floods by Cyclone Michaung. Many volunteers and celebrities came forward to help the stranded people. While the Vijay Makkal Iyakkam started helping the affected people on Monday itself, Thalapathy Vijay put out a request to the VMI members.
Thalapathy Vijay took to X (formerly Twitter) and posted a statement to his fans and VMI members. It is now spreading like wildfire on social media. His post reads:
“Due to the heavy rains of Cyclone “Michaung” in Chennai and its suburbs, the public including children, women and the elderly are suffering a lot. There are reports that thousands of people are suffering without water and food and without adequate basic facilities. There are still many voices on social media asking for help to rescue from the flooded area.
At this time, I kindly request all Makkal Iyakkam administrators to involve themselves as volunteers in the rescue work carried out by the government to help the people in the affected areas.
