Speaking on the occasion, producer Vishnu Vardhan Induri said that it was his co-producer Brinda Prasad's idea to make the biopic. Adding that they could think of only AL Vijay's name to direct the movie, he revealed that 'Thalaivi' was decided to be the universal title since it suits Jayalalithaa's image the best.
The idea to rope in Kangana Ranaut for the titular role was writer Vijayendra Prasad's. "Once Kangana came on board, our film became a pan-India film. Vishal Vittal's excellent visuals, Ramakrishna garu's art direction, GV Prakash's background music will stand out," he added.
The producer added that he will be disappointed if the film earns anything less than five National Awards.
Speaking on the occasion, Kangana expressed confidence in the material and added that she was looking forward to the movie's release.
