Lokesh Kanagaraj has become the most talked-about young director in Tamil cinema after the stupendous critical and commercial success of ‘Kaithi’ starring Karthi and following it up with ‘Master’ with the dream combo of Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi. His stock further rose when news came out that he is all set to direct Superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Thalaivar 169’ produced by Kamal Haasan.
‘Kaithi’ on August 12th was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival and in an interview related to that Lokesh Kanagaraj fielded many questions about the film and his upcoming projects.
When questioned about ‘Thalaivar 169’ Lokesh said that as of now he cannot talk about the project and only the production house can update after all the necessary deals are sealed. He also hinted that its too early to talk about the mega project indicating that as reported he will be doing other projects before having a crack at this one due to the coronavirus and considering the age of both Kamal and Rajini.
After ‘Master’ which is expected to release in early 2021, Lokesh is in talks to helm ‘Kaithi 2’ with Dream Warrior Pictures and a Telugu project with Mythri Movie Makers that is likely to star Ram Charan Teja.
