The Telugu Film Journalists Association (TFJA) and the Telugu Film Digital Media Association (TFDMA) have filed a joint complaint with the Telangana State Women's Commission, demanding action against Venu Swamy for his irresponsible and unethical behavior.
The complaint stems from a video where Venu Swamy, despite lacking any recognized expertise in astrology, analyzed the horoscopes of Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita Dhulipala on their engagement day. He proceeded to make predictions about their future, including a potential separation, drawing widespread criticism for his intrusion into their personal lives.
The associations vehemently condemned these pronouncements as baseless and disrespectful, emphasizing the inappropriateness of making pronouncements about the relationships of individuals without their consent or any credible justification. They pointed out that Venu Swamy has a history of making similarly controversial statements about movie releases and political results, highlighting his consistent disregard for responsible commentary.
Responding to the complaint, Telangana State Women's Commission Chairperson Ms. Neerella Sharada assured the associations that action will be taken against Venu Swamy and the YouTube channels that aired his video. The Commission intends to summon Venu Swamy for an explanation. The TFJA and TFDMA are hopeful that this action will deter such irresponsible and unethical behavior in the future.
The delegation attending the meeting included TFJA President Lakshinarayana, General Secretary YJ Rambabu, Treasurer Surendra Kumar Naidu, Members Prasadam Raghu and Lakshmi (V6), TFDMA President Premamalini Vanam, Secretary Vedula Murthy, Members Suvarna and Tejaswini Sajja, and Hyderabad Press Club Vice President Vanaja.
The incident has brought to light the growing concern regarding the misuse of astrology and the ethical implications of making predictions about personal lives without proper knowledge and sensitivity. The Telugu film industry is united in its demand for accountability from social media platforms and their users, aiming to create a safer and more respectful digital environment for all. The industry will continue to monitor the situation closely and advocate for stronger measures to protect the privacy and dignity of its members.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the responsibility that comes with public influence and the importance of upholding ethical standards in the digital age.
