From the moment it was announced, Draupathi 2 has steadily built strong curiosity among audiences and trade circles. Directed by Mohan G, the grand historical action drama is mounted as a large-scale multilingual period film set in 14th-century South India. The project has now completed post-production and has successfully received a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification, marking a major milestone ahead of its release.
Adding to the growing buzz are the film’s striking visual scale, Richard Rishi’s powerful transformation, and a set of scintillating songs that have already caught attention. The makers have also introduced three formidable antagonists, with Chirag Jani positioned as the first-level villain, further intensifying interest in the narrative.
Speaking about Chirag Jani’s casting, director Mohan G described the character as far more than a conventional antagonist. He explained that Chirag portrays Mohammad Bin Tughlaq as a complex and layered ruler, combining physical dominance with sharp intellect. Referring to history’s portrayal of Tughlaq as an “intelligent fool,” Mohan G noted that capturing such contradictions demanded exceptional control and depth. He praised Chirag for fully immersing himself in the role, bringing together menace, dignity, calculation, and emotional weight, ultimately elevating the film through his screen presence.

Draupathi 2 features Richard Rishi in the lead role, with Rakshana Indusudan as the female lead and Natti Natraj in a pivotal role. The ensemble cast further strengthens the film with performances by Y.G. Mahendran, Nadodigal Barani, Saravana Subbiah, Vel Ramamoorthy, Siraj Johnny, Dinesh Lamba, Ganesh Gaurang, Divi, Devayani Sharma, and Arunodayan.
The film is produced by Chola Shakkaravarthi under Netaji Productions in association with G.M. Film Corporation. The technical team includes cinematographer Philip R. Sundar, music composer Ghibran Vaibodha, action choreographer Action Santosh, choreographer Thanika Tony, editor Devaraj, and production designer Kamalnathan. Dialogues have been jointly written by Padma Chandrasekhar and Mohan G.
With censor formalities now complete, the makers are gearing up to launch an aggressive promotional campaign. The trailer and audio launch are expected to be unveiled shortly, followed by an official announcement of the worldwide theatrical release date, setting the stage for Draupathi 2 to make a strong impact on the big screen.
