Tennis legend Rafael Nadal welcomes his first child with wife Maria Perello

22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal has welcomed his first child, a baby boy, with wife Maria Francisca Perello, in a clinic on the island of Mallorca. The Tennis player had confirmed in June this year that his wife was pregnant.

The news was originally reported by Spanish media, which was later confirmed by football club Real Madrid, who took to their official Twitter handle to congratulate the couple. “Congratulations to our dear honorary member @RafaelNadal and to María Perelló for the birth of their first child. We join you in sharing the happiness of this moment. All the best!” the post read. Nadal tied the knot with Maria Perello on October 19, 2019 after dating for several years.

Nadal’s big news comes merely days after he bid an emotional farewell to his best friend and rival Roger Federer, who played his last game of Tennis on September 24 this year. Nadal currently holds the record for the most number of grand slam wins, including 14 French Open, 2 Australian Open titles, 2 Wimbledon titles, and 4 US Open titles.
