A pregnant woman in Erode had to be carried in a make-shift cloth cradle for 6 km as the ambulance could not reach her place due to poor road conditions as a result of the continuous rain the past one month.
The incident happened in the Burgur village in Erode and a video of the same that has been going viral shows the woman’s husband and another man carrying her in a cradle made out of cloth tied to a bamboo pole. They reportedly carried her for around 6 km up to the Thamaraikarai-Bargur road after which she was loaded in a pick-up van and was carried to the hospital.
The woman gave birth to a baby boy on her way to the hospital. The mother and the baby are reported to be in a stable condition and are being administered antibiotics.
