On the second day of theatre owners strike today against the Tamil Nadu state government's levy of 30% entertainment tax on Tamil films apart from the GST, movie halls across the state remain shut. The representatives of the film producers, theatre owners and distributors are expected to meet the Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy and other ministers again today and find a solution. Both the sides have expressed hope that a solution will emerge within today.

Meanwhile a group of producers headed by the multi-talented veteran T.Rajendhar conducted a protest in front of the South Indian Film Chamber located in Chennai.

Addressing media persons, TR alleged that many Tamil film producers are being threatened not to protest against the TN Govermnet' for levying the tax.

"It is cinema that has given life to me and I am always indebted for that. State tax apart from GST will be unbearable. Small budget film producers will be severely affected by this move. The Government refuses to give permission for protests. They did not give permission for this protest when I approached through my political party. I am protesting from here. Let them come and arrest me. Many producers are remaining silent because they are threatened not to protest against the government."
