The other day, a 23-year-old Swiggy delivery boy named Mohammed Rizwan breathed his last while undergoing treatment in a hospital in Hyderabad. He had jumped off the third floor of the Lumbini Rock Castle Apartments in Banjara Hills, where he had gone to deliver food to a customer. The customer’s pet dog scared him when it barked at him. Out of panic, Rizwan jumped off the building.
Netizens are demanding that the owner of the dog must be held responsible for Rizwan’s demise. They are of the view that dog owners have to be made responsible for their dogs.
“When you call yourself not just a dog owner but a dog parent, it is your duty to keep your ‘child’ under control. Not everyone views a dog as a lovely, harmless being. If a dog looks fearsome to someone, that someone can’t be blamed,” a Netizen says.
Recently, a court opined that those who feed street dogs must be held responsible when the dogs kill a child on the street. A similar logic might be applied in the case of the Hyderabad tragedy.
