Suriya needs no introduction as he is one of the topmost leading men in South Indian cinema. Apart from his impeccable choice of films he is also known as a producer of intense and meaningful films. 'Soorarai Pottru' and 'Jai Bhim' two of the most recent films from his banner 2D Entertainment have swept awards at various film festivals and almost bagged Oscars as well.
Suriya is currently producing the Hindi remake of 'Soorarai Pottru' directed by Sudha Kongara which is getting ready for release. He is also bankrolling his next 'Suriya 43' also directed by Sudha Kongara with GVP scoring the music and costarring Dulqueer Salmaan, Vijay Varma and Nazriya Nazim. The shooting will begin after the wrap of Suriya's current fantasy adventure film 'Kanguva' directed by Siruthai Siva.
The latest buzz in Kollywood trade which is not officially confirmed is that Suriya has bagged the Tamil remake rights of the sleeper hit Bollywood film '12th Fail'. The coming of age film based on true life is written, produced and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra. It is unknown if Suriya plans to star in the film or sign another hero and stay behind the camera.
'12th Fail' based on book written by Anurag Pathak deals with the real-life story of Manoj Kumar Sharma who overcame extreme poverty to become an Indian Police Service officer. The film stars Vikrant Massey in the title role, alongside Medha Shankar, Anant V Joshi, Anshumaan Pushkar, and Priyanshu Chatterjee.
