Mind Blowing! ‘Super Deluxe’ trailer review

The long awaited ‘Super Deluxe’ trailer has landed and in one word it is Mind Blowing! Period.  Thiagarajan Kumaraja grips the viewers attention as Vijay Sethupathi in voice over narrates the story of a man who hangs precariously on a tree root over a mountain with the deep death below and a tiger waiting for him on top only to realize that the root is in fact a python.  The visuals introduce the characters of Vijay Sethupathi the transgender, Samantha, Fahadh Fazil, Mysskin, Gayathrie and Ramya Krishnan.

Then VJS in his voiceover kicks up a frenzy about the desperate man who sees a drop of honey trickling on his hands and decides to take a lick giving a f#@$k to the dangers surrounding him.

The cuts switch to top gear as the desperation of the various characters are shown according to the tempo of the tale. Since as of now we dont have much to go by to judge performances one masterstroke is Vijay Sethupathi’s triple shaded voice modulation in the narration which is nothing short of awesome.  Sheer brilliance from editor Sathyaraj Natarajan complimented by Yuvan Shankar Raja’s bgm and Nirav Shah/P.S. Vinod’s cinematography. 

On the whole Thiagarajan Kumaraja sells his film instantly with this trailer and kicks up the curiosity of the viewer to see first hand why he is so highly rated by his contemporaries.
