Did Sun Pictures hint at a delay in the release of Suriya’s Etharkkum Thunindhavan?

Suriya is currently working on the mass rural entertainer ‘Etharkkum Thunindhavan’ written and directed by Pandiraj. Bankrolled by Kalanithi Maran under the banner Sun Pictures, the film was announced to release on February 4 in five languages, and the promotions for the film have been happening parallelly.

Now, the latest buzz in the Kollywood media circle is that the makers have planned to push the release of Etharkkum Thunindhavan further and it won’t be released on the originally scheduled date. The production house hinted to the fans subtly about the change in release plans. Sun Pictures has been actively sharing the film’s updates on their social media pages.

But their latest update has shocked the fans as it indicates the delay of the rural action drama. Sun Pictures earlier had a cover picture designed with the movie’s February 4 release date, however, they have now updated a new cover picture of the ‘Etharkkum Thunindhavan’ poster without a release date. Notably, this will be Suriya’s first theatrical release in three years as his last two flicks directly premiered on OTT.

Meanwhile, the biggies ‘Radhe Shyam’, ‘RRR’ and ‘Valimai’ were postponed indefinitely due to the rapid increase in the COVID cases and lockdown restrictions. Priyanka Arul Mohan is the leading lady of ‘Etharkkum Thunindhavan’ and the principal cast comprises Vinay, Soori, Redin Kingsley, Sathyaraj, Saranya Ponvannan and Raj Kiran.
