‘Makkal Selvan’ Vijay Sethupathi, who has carved a unique niche for himself in the Tamil film industry, is set to reunite with world-renowned director Mani Ratnam after a significant hiatus. This news has sparked massive expectations within Kollywood circles.
While Vijay Sethupathi previously played a pivotal role in Mani Ratnam’s Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, that film was a gritty gangster drama. However, it is reported that this upcoming project will be a full-length romantic drama.
In a recent interview, Vijay Sethupathi shared his excitement, stating, “This time, collaborating with Mani Sir will be an entirely different experience compared to our previous outing.”
The leading lady starring opposite Vijay Sethupathi in this film is the powerhouse performer Sai Pallavi. Fans believe that the synergy between Sai Pallavi’s natural acting style and Vijay Sethupathi’s unique screen presence, woven together by Mani Ratnam’s cinematic language, will be nothing short of ‘magic.’ Notably, this marks Sai Pallavi’s first time working under Mani Ratnam’s direction.
Previously, rumors suggested that actors like Dhruv Vikram or Dhanush might headline this project. Ultimately, Mani Ratnam chose Vijay Sethupathi for this distinct new creation.
Currently, Vijay Sethupathi is busy with films like Pocket Novel and Arasan. Similarly, Sai Pallavi is involved in major projects such as Ramayana and D55. Official announcements regarding this film are expected toward the end of this year or early next year, once they wrap up their current commitments.
