In an election campaign by Kamal Haasan a few days ago in Thiruparankundram, unknown individuals had thrown slippers towards the actor. Following this incident, yesterday in a campaign in Aravakurichi, chaos was caused by stones and eggs being thrown by two people.
Kamal Haasan’s comment on terrorists being present in all religions is being condemned by leaders from BJP. He had said: “I am not saying this because this is a Muslim-dominated area, but I am saying this before a statue of Gandhi. Independent India’s first extremist (theevravaadi) was a Hindu, his name is Nathuram Godse. There it starts,” He went on to defend himself with NDTV saying: “Terrorists abound in all religions. Around history, you can list many people from many religions. I was talking in that term. I said every religion has their own terrorist. You cannot claim that we are sanctimonious.”
Kamal Haasan did not retract his earlier statements but explained how they were true. When the actor was leaving the stage in Aravakurichi, stones and eggs were thrown at him. Party members caught the offenders and handed them over to the police. They fought saying that strict action must be taken against the offenders. SP Vikraman pacified the members at the site.
