SRK on Best Actor National Award: “One Hand Is Enough to Hold It, Other for Fans’ Love”

The 71st National Film Awards were recently announced, and Bollywood’s Baadshah, Shah Rukh Khan, bagged the Best Actor award for his powerful performance in Atlee’s action thriller Jawan. In the film, SRK impressed audiences with his dual avatars of a father and son, delivering one of the year’s most celebrated blockbusters.

The award was jointly shared with actor Vikrant Massey for his much-acclaimed portrayal in 12th Fail, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The recognition has been hailed as a proud moment for Indian cinema, celebrating both mainstream stardom and content-driven storytelling.

SRK, who is known for his warmth and wit, made headlines soon after the announcement during an interactive #AskSRK session on X (formerly Twitter). When a fan asked him how he felt after winning the honour and whether he valued the National Award or people’s love more, the superstar replied:

“YAY!!!!! I feel like the King of the Nation!!! Too much honour and too much responsibility to try and excel and work harder!!”

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan was also seen at the preview event of his son Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, the Netflix series Ba**ds of Bollywood*. At the event, SRK appeared with his arm in a sling, sparking curiosity among attendees. Addressing the concern with his trademark humour, he said:

“I know everyone wants to ask what happened to my shoulder. I had a small surgery—well, not so small—and I’ll take one to two months to recover. But it’s okay… I only need one hand to hold my National Award.”

The actor then added a heartwarming quip, saying he usually manages most things with one hand—“except when it comes to wholeheartedly accepting everyone’s love.”

With his National Award win, Aryan’s upcoming debut, and his own unstoppable charm, Shah Rukh Khan continues to prove why he remains the undisputed King of Indian cinema.
