Charming Star Sharwa is all set to take audiences back to the 1960s with Bhogi, an ambitious period action-drama directed by Sampath Nandi. The film has generated considerable interest following the release of its teaser, which received an encouraging response. Now, the makers have kick-started the film’s musical promotions with the release of ‘Egilivaranga’, an energetic folk number that offers a glimpse into the movie’s rustic world.
Composed by Bheems Ceciroleo, who is known for his ability to create captivating folk melodies, the song blends traditional musical elements with an earthy sound. The composition gradually builds in intensity, bringing a vibrant and authentic flavour to the film’s setting.
Set in the 1960s in Boggula Gutta, a village located on the Maharashtra–Adilabad border, Bhogi explores the traditions, culture and social realities of rural life during that period. The song reflects the everyday experiences of villagers, their traditional occupations, caste-based social structures and the influence of local feudal landlords.
Oscar-winning lyricist Chandra Bose has penned the lyrics in a natural Telangana dialect, capturing the region’s cultural identity and the realities of village life. Rather than presenting a polished version of rural society, the song embraces a raw and realistic approach that adds authenticity to the film’s period setting.
Nalgonda Gaddar Narsanna lends his powerful voice to the number, bringing the composition to life with his energetic singing. Narsireddy, Kandukuri Shankar Babu and Relare Gopal also contribute to the song, further strengthening its traditional folk appeal.
The visuals play a key role in establishing the atmosphere of Bhogi. The song recreates the rural landscape and lifestyle of the 1960s, with careful attention to the village environment, traditional customs and the appearance of its people.
Sharwa and Anupama Parameswaran look convincing in their rustic avatars, fitting naturally into the film’s period setting. The visual presentation complements the lyrics and music, offering audiences a closer look at the world director Sampath Nandi is building for the film.
With Egilivaranga, Sampath Nandi once again showcases his interest in stories rooted in regional culture and social realities. The song’s energetic folk music, authentic Telangana dialect and detailed visuals make it a promising beginning to the film’s musical journey.
Produced by KK Radhamohan under the Sri Sathya Sai Arts banner, Bhogi is presented by Lakshmi Radhamohan. Dimple Hayathi plays another female lead alongside Anupama Parameswaran, while a talented technical team handles the film’s various departments.
Kishor Kumar is handling the cinematography, while Bheems Ceciroleo is composing the music. The film’s production and post-production work are currently underway, and the makers are expected to announce the release date soon.
With its period backdrop, action-drama elements and strong connection to Telangana’s rural culture, Bhogi is shaping up to be an interesting project to watch out for.
