Famous cricketer arrested for killing man in road accident

Sri Lankan cricketer Kusal Mendis has been arrested after he ran over a 64-year-old cyclist with the vehicle he was driving and killed him early Sunday morning.
The incident happened in Panadura, south of Colombo, where Mendis was driving his SUV at approximately 5 am. A police spokesperson confirmed Mendis' arrest. The cricketer has already been attended to by a doctor for a medical examination and he will reportedly be produced before a local magistrate in less than 48 hours.
The 25-year-old wicket-keeper batsman has represented Sri Lanka in 44 Tests and 76 ODIs and was part of the national squad which had resumed training after the COVID-19 lockdown, according to reports.
