Squadron Leader Varlin Panwar Joins Mohanlal’s ‘Operation Ganga’ as Military Adviser

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal’s upcoming film Operation Ganga has added an important layer of authenticity with Squadron Leader Varlin Panwar joining the project as its Military Adviser.

Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Vishnu Mohan, the film is inspired by India’s massive evacuation mission during the 2022 Russia-Ukraine war. Produced by Gokulam Gopalan under the banner of Sree Gokulam Movies, the film is currently progressing with its shoot.

Varlin Panwar to Bring Military Expertise to the Film

Squadron Leader Varlin Panwar will be closely involved in the film’s military and combat-related sequences. Her expertise is expected to help the makers bring greater authenticity to the depiction of military manoeuvres, rescue operations and the high-pressure situations surrounding the evacuation mission.

Given the subject of Operation Ganga, realistic military detailing is particularly important. Panwar’s involvement is expected to strengthen the film’s action portions while ensuring that the operational aspects are presented with credibility.

Inspired by India’s Operation Ganga

Set against the backdrop of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the film draws inspiration from Operation Ganga, the Indian government’s evacuation mission that brought thousands of stranded Indian citizens, including students, back home from Ukraine.

The story is expected to explore the challenges involved in carrying out a large-scale evacuation amid an active war situation, with elements of courage, strategy, survival and human emotion forming the core of the narrative.

Mohanlal Leads a Strong Cast

Mohanlal headlines the film, which features Arjun Rampal, Bhagyashri Borse, Parthiban and Adil Hussain in key roles.

The project also brings together an impressive technical team. Cinematographer Miroslaw Kuba Brozek, known for Pushpa 1 & 2, is handling the visuals, while production designer Rajeevan is responsible for creating the film’s world.

Action director Sea Young Oh, known for Dhurandhar and Kill, is choreographing the action sequences.

High-Profile Technical Team

Music for the film is composed by Shashwat Sachdev, while Shameer Mohammed is the editor. Acclaimed sound designer Bishwadeep Chatterjee, known for films including Dhurandhar, Uri, 3 Idiots and Padmaavat, is handling the sound design.

K. V. Sanjit serves as the VFX supervisor. The team also includes costume director Melvy J, makeup artist Ronex Xavier and production controller Rinny Divakar.

Produced by Gokulam Gopalan, with Baiju Gopalan and V. C. Praveen as co-producers and Krishnamoorthy as executive producer, Operation Ganga is shaping up as an ambitious large-scale film.
