Legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam passed away yesterday due to cardio respiratory arrest, and the singer had been battling Coronavirus for almost 2 months after getting admitted on August 5 to MGM hospital, Chennai.
As people have been sharing their condolences to the veteran, the first and final live performance video of SPB has turned viral now, where the singer has performed amidst corona crisis wearing masks and gloves and delivering an important message to the world regarding Coronavirus and being kind to everyone and share.
In the video, where SPB performed for the event organised by Mouna Ragam Murali and sponsored by Tokyo Tamil Sangam, after a soulful rendition of a song, SPB appreciated the team of musicians for performing for 100 days and the technology that facilitated the event. He further spoke "We don't know what's going to happen in the future. I've been a witness to many things - live recording, singing in the times when track arrived, working with music directors all over the country, now I've got the experience of performing, imagining an audience before me in this event. We don't know what experiences the future generations will be getting, the orchestra might be in a different location, the singer might be singing from a different place, anything might happen and it's unavoidable. We don't need to speak bad of corona - it's not a demon, but a curse for our mistakes. Our ancestors had given us a beautiful earth with resources, and we made a huge betrayal to nature, and we never gave the respect mother nature deserved, and we're now giving a graveyard kinda place for our future generations, which is unfair." Quoting "Yaadhum oore Yavarum kelir", SPB said "Ordinary people will think of their people, caste, religion, language, country etc while an intelligent person will consider everyone as the same. If we have something in abundance, we'll share them with others, and if we don't have, let's not be evil. People are now contributing to help others, and everyone here are Saraswati, and I did only a small part. We're all supported by you the audience. Now we're imprisoned without any choices, everyone should be smiling and get proper food, and I thank Pulamaipithan for the lyrics and Maragathamani for his beautiful music. I think in the future I'll be able to meet you all in such events only, even cricket matches happen without audience. I wish everyone lives happily and live well, I am grateful to you for traveling with me in these 55 years journey, I'll be still there for a while, please bless me, and be with me".
