Tamil cinema superstar Sivakarthikeyan, known for his on-screen charisma and off-screen kindness, has once again shown his love for animals. He has adopted Prakruti (also spelled Prakruthi), a female elephant from the Arignar Anna Zoological Park (Vandalur Zoo) in Chennai.
According to the zoo administration, Sivakarthikeyan will personally cover the costs of Prakruti’s food, medical care, and overall maintenance for the next 6 months. This gesture is part of the zoo’s animal adoption program, which encourages public participation in wildlife conservation and helps fund the upkeep of animals.
This isn’t the first time the actor has stepped up for the zoo’s residents. In previous years:
- In 2021, he adopted a male lion named Vishnu and a female elephant named Prakrithi for six months.
- In 2023, he adopted a lion named Sheru for six months.
- In 2025 (last year), he adopted a lion named Shreyar/Sheryar and a tiger named Yuga for three months.
His consistent involvement highlights his deep commitment to animal welfare and conservation. Fans have flooded social media with praise, calling him a true “animal lover” and sharing messages like “Real hero off-screen too!” and “SK’s heart is as big as his stardom!”
The Vandalur Zoo, one of the largest in Southeast Asia, has welcomed the contribution and encouraged others to join similar adoption initiatives (with benefits like tax exemptions and free zoo visits for donors).
Sivakarthikeyan is currently busy working on several films. Yet, even amidst his busy schedule and on-screen success, he never forgets his social responsibilities. This thoughtful gesture has further won the hearts of his fans.
Kudos to SK for being a voice for the voiceless!
