Simbu's 'Thattrom Thookrom' song seemed to have stirred another controversy for the actor. The song which criticizes the centre's demonitisation move was widely received by the public while it was heavily condemned by the members of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

With the possibility of the BJP members conducting protest before the actor's house, there was police protection for his residence. Stating that he is a person who always says his opinions boldly, he also clarified that song was neither composed nor written by him and it was also not for his film.

"I decided to sing the song as the song spoke about the difficulties faced by the people. There is no wrong in it. People have been facing problems due to the demonitisation and the song speaks about the same. I nor the song have no intention hurt the sentiments of the people," Simbu said.
