Swami Nithyananda is hogging headlines once again for all the wrong reasons. In the last 10 years, the controversial godman's single-biggest achievement has been to be in the news for shocking reasons at least a couple of times.

Recently, the minor daughter of a Bengaluru resident was "rescued" by her parents from an ashram school that belongs to Nithyananda's trust. Speaking to a news agency, the girl has alleged that she would be made to do special videos extolling Nithyananda by wearing jewelry and heavy make-up, all in the middle of the night or whenever she was ordered to.

On one occasion, she was literally confined to a room for weeks on end in the name of a "spiritual ritual".

Many girls and boys in the ashram were asked to speak about their parents in degrading terms. The girl refused to do so.

Meanwhile, Nithyananda is said to have fled India.
