Director Shankar started production on ‘Imsai Arasan 24aam Pulikesi’ directed by Chimbu Devan and starring Vadivelu a few months back. Grand sets were erected at huge costs for the sequel to the 2006 blockbuster and a few days shooting took place. Vadivelu who was paid a huge amount to star in the film started creating trouble for the production initially insisting that his personal costumer should be employed for the entire film. Later he refused to work with a few costars and demanded they be replaced and when it was not heeded he stopped working on the film and production was halted.
Following Shankar’s complaint to the Producers Council, Vadivelu has been asked to either finish ‘Imsai Arasan 24aam Pulikesi’ or compensate the producer for the losses incurred. The Nadigar Sangam too could do nothing as the Shankar camp’s demands are justified and what is worse is that producers of two films starring GVP and R.K. Suresh who had booked Vadivelu have also demanded return of the advance amount.
The odds are clearly stacked against Vadivelu in this issue and industry sources suggest that he has no other option but to opt for one of Shankar’s proposed conditions to save embarassment.
