While India has already two golds and a silver in its medal tally in the ongoing Commonwelath Games in Australia, here’s more reason to rejoice for sporting fans. Yet another medal has been added to the tally and guess what, this time a Tamizhian is the celebrated hero.
Sathish Kumar Sivalingam of Vellore has clinched the gold in the men’s 77 kg weightlifting category. He lifted 144kg in the snatch, 173 kg in the clean and jerk to win the much coveted gold. It is also worth noting here that Sathish had clinched gold in the previous Commonwealth games which was held at Scotland. No wonder the weightlifter has been receiving praise from all corners.
Congrats Sathish!
As of now, India has a tally of three golds, 1 silver and 1 bronze amounting to five medals. Australia is at the top spot with 14 golds and England at the second spot with 12 gold medals to its credit.
