Sasikala Natarjan the close aide of former chief minister Jayalalitha who is serving a four year jail term in the Parapana Agrahara prison in Bengaluru is likely to be released on August 14th 2020 according to legal sources.
Jayalalitha, Sasikala and her relatives Elavarasi and Sudhakaran were sentenced to four years prison in the disproportionate wealth case that was going on for more than two decades. Since Jayalalitha passed away on December 5th 2016 she was exempted from the prison term but the rest were lodged in the Parapana Agrahara prison in Bengaluru.
It was Sasikala who nominated Edappadi Pazhaniswamy as the chief ministerial candidate against the interim chief minister O. Paneerselvam forcing him to rebel. But after she went to jail the two factions came together and EPS and OPS have completed four years in power assuming the posts of CM and Deputy CM and Party Leader and Deputy leader respectively. Political analysts are looking forward to sensational changes in TN politics if Sasikala gets an early release as per the breaking news and could turn out to be a big headache for the ruling party.
