A husband and wife recently hung themselves to death in Dubbaka, Telangana. They had been distressed for want of livelihood opportunities. The pandemic-induced suicides have orphaned their two children, who have been left in the lurch.
When a news report described the plight of the orphaned children, actor Sampoornesh Babu and writer-director-producer Sai Rajesh were moved. They decided to provide the orphans with the immediate financial assistance of Rs 25,000. What is more, they have also resolved to fund their education for the rest of their academic lives.

"The news report had moved us a great deal. I and my friend, Sai Rajesh, decided to do our bit. It's our minimum responsibility to help those in need in this hour of immense crisis," Sampoornesh Babu, who has previously teamed up with Sai Rajesh on 'Hrudaya Kaleyam' and 'Kobbari Matta', said.
Sai Rajesh said that the idea to reach out to the orphans was first mooted by Sampoo. "He sent me the paper clipping and said that we should do something within our capacity. I am proud of introducing a good person like him to the industry," Rajesh tweeted.
On the work front, the Burning Star (as Sampoo is nicknamed) awaits the release of 'Cauliflower', a comedy actioner.
