The age gap between the heroine and hero of the upcoming historical drama 'Shaakuntalam' based on a Kalidasa play is five years. Just that the female lead is older than the male lead. We are talking about Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Mollywood actor Dev Mohan. The former is 35, while the latter is 30.
At a promotional presser today in Kochi, Dev Mohan had a slip-up when he made the age gap pretty obvious to those who are not aware of it. "I watched Samantha for the first time in 'Eega'. I was in college at that time," the actor said. At this, the 'Yashoda' actress jovially asked him not to get into details (apparently), which had Dev Mohan laugh.
Usually, actors are advised by filmmakers not to discuss the age gap between the lead pair because that might influence the audience's thinking and perception to an extent. If the audience become too conscious of the ages of the lead pair, it affects how their onscreen chemistry is viewed by the audience.
'Shaakuntalam', directed by Gunasekhar, will hit the screens on April 14.
